Julia is an ongoing documentary portrait project about my niece as she grows up in a middleclass environment in Middletown, NY. Julia is a healthy nine-year old girl full of life, creativity and drama. I've been photographing her regularly every few months since she was about three years old, and I plan to continue to watch her life unfold. I’m interested in capturing the spirit of a fleeting child’s world and how American cultural influences are shaping her character. She reminds me of myself at that age and inspires me to continue to dream.
